About
Giuliana is originally from Caracas, Venezuela and Mexico City, Mexico. She received her B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Michigan. She joined MBL as a PhD student in Summer 2026.

She previously worked on investigating the effects of type I diabetes on bone architecture at Kohn Lab at UMich, which is where her passion for orthopedic research began. She has experience with computational imaging and mechanobiology. Giuliana pivoted from bone to cartilage and is interested in investigating the normal wear and tear of articular cartilage and osteoarthritis treatment strategies.

Giuliana is an advocate for STEM outreach and has been involved with the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) and the Graduate Organization of Biomedical Engineers (GoBME).

Outside of lab, Giuliana likes playing volleyball and soccer, hiking, cooking, and playing guitar and performing at open mics around New York City.
