CV, Katie, Kim and Rafi each present their research at SB3C

Congrats to the whole lab for presenting at the 2023 Summer Biomechanics, Bioengineering, and Biotransport Conference in Vail, Colorado.

CV gave a podium presentation on human wear titled "Synovial Fluid Provides A Protective Effect In Articular Cartilage Fatigue Failure," which sparked dialogue amongst labs studying cartilage lubrication and wear. This was Rafi's first conference, and he presented on "Thermodynamics of Phase Transformation of Water: Theory and Experiments," providing experimental validation for a novel thermodynamic framework for phase transformations.

Katie presented her poster on "Bendable Osteochondral Allografts for Improved Congruence: Comparison of Computational and Cadaveric Models," demonstrating that BOCAs can match the joint contact area of native patellae. Kim presented her poster on "Glutaraldehyde Crosslinking of Collagen is a Time Dependent Reaction on the Order of 24 Hours." Kim had interesting discussions about her crosslinking work and received great feedback.

Everyone's presentations were well received and garnered interest and engagement in from their attendees. The remainder of SB3C was packed with other engaging talks, networking, axe throwing, and hanging with the Columbia crew. Looking forward to next year!
